M.F. Montemor is Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, Department of Chemical Engineering. Her scientific activity focusses on new functional coatings for surface protection and forenergy storage. She is co-author of 20 book chapters and above 350 scientific papers. Her h index is 76.She has been awarded with the EFC medal and has received a Doctor Honoris Causa Degree by University of Mons. Leading a scientific team of approximately 20 researchers, including PhD students, pos-docs and young researchers, she fosters a creative research environment conducive to cutting-edge research and innovation that addresses synergies between materials engineering research and industry needs.She is co-founder of the company “Charge2C-NewCap” that fabricates supercapacitors.

Goran Strbac is a Professor of Energy Systems, with extensive experience in advanced modelling and analysis of operation, planning, security and economics of multi-energy systems. He led the development of novel advanced analysis approaches and methodologies that have been extensively used to inform industry, governments and regulatory bodies about the role and value of emerging new technologies and systems in supporting cost effective evolution to smart low carbon energy future. He is currently Director of the joint Imperial-Tsinghua Research Centre on Intelligent Power and Energy Systems, Member of OFGEM Climate Resilience Expert Panel, Member of the UK Smart System Forum, Member of the European Technology and Innovation Platform for Smart Networks for the Energy Transition, and Member of the Joint EU Programme in Energy Systems Integration of the European Energy Research Alliance. Dr. Weidong Zhu is currently working as a professor in Department of Mechanical Engineering at University of Maryland, Baltimore County, USA. He has completed his Dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Computational Science at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, 1986 and completed his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Arizona State University, 1988 and completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, at University of California at Berkeley, 1994. He has involved in different kinds of university, national and international research grants, amounting to approximately RM 10 million. Jun-Ki Choi, Ph.D. is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Dayton and Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC). His research focuses on industrial decarbonization, renewable energy systems, life cycle assessment, circular economy, and multiscale energy and environmental modeling that connects engineering design with policy and societal impacts. Dr. Choi has led more than $9 million in externally funded research and published over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles addressing energy efficiency, renewable manufacturing, and sustainability transitions. Through the DOE IAC program, he has conducted and overseen more than 1,100 industrial energy assessments, helping manufacturers reduce energy use, costs, and carbon emissions while training the next generation of clean energy engineers. Internationally, Dr. Choi has held visiting and teaching appointments at institutions including KAIST, Seoul National University, the University of Bologna, and CUNY. He has delivered over 40 invited talks worldwide on system thinking for industrial decarbonization. He holds a Ph.D. from Purdue University and an M.S. from the University of Michigan, and currently serves as the Anderson Endowed Chair in Engineering Innovation.

Willi Semmler is the Arnhold Professor of International Cooperation and Development Emeritus at the New School for Social Research, New York. He was a Postdoc at Columbia University, a professor at American University, Washington, D.C., and Bielefeld University, Germany, and a Fulbright Professor at the University of Vienna. He is an honorary doctor of the American University Europe-Fon and was an evaluator of research projects for the EU Commission and a visiting scholar at the ECB and the IMF while working for the IEO at the IMF. Professor Li’s research areas include waste resource utilization, green and low-carbon technologies, and new pollutant control. She has obtained funds from the National Natural Science Foundation, National Key R&D Program, and Beijing Natural Science Foundation, and published over 70 papers. She was selected as a National High-Level Talent, and Outstanding Agricultural Research Talent of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. She also serves as a member of the Chinese Society of Microbiology, a director of the Beijing Society of Microbiology, and a member of the national ecological farm expert group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.

Jinsong Wu received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, in 2006. He is proposer (2021) the Founder (2022) and Founding Editor-in-Chief (2022-present) for the new international journal, Green Technologies and Sustainability (GTS), KeAi. He received 2020 IEEE Green Communications and Computing Technical Committee (TCGCC) Distinguished Technical Achievement Recognition Award, for his outstanding technical leadership and achievement in green wireless communications and networking. Vipul Jainis an Associate Professor of Supply Chain and Logistics Management at RMIT University Melbourne, Australia, with extensive international academic and leadership experience. He has held senior academic roles at Victoria University of Wellington, including Undergraduate Programme Director, PhD Programme Director, and Research Director, where he shaped academic programmes and research strategy. Omar A. Ismail is the co founder and CTO of Hydroforge, a hydrogen technology startup focused on driving green hydrogen below 2 USD/kg. He is a PhD candidate in the Multiscale Energy Transport Laboratory at City University of Hong Kong, led by Prof. Weihong Li, where Hydroforge’s core patents and innovations originated. Omar is a certified renewable and hydrogen energy consultant with the Renewable Energy Institute, and a member of ASME and CSME. He has authored 7+ peer reviewed publications and is an inventor on multiple pending patents. Before academia, Omar spent a decade as an engineering consultant and team lead in Egypt and Canada, delivering more than 10 sustainability and renewable energy projects and helping clients reduce annual waste by over 40 million USD. Rana Nazifi Charandabi is a PhD candidate in Photovoltaics (Module and System Design and Integration), a National PhD Program involving several major Italian universities and headquartered at the University of Salerno, Italy. Her research focuses on innovative solar-energy structures, with particular emphasis on tensegrity- and origami-based architectures for building-integrated photovoltaics, deployable solar systems, and adaptive energy-harvesting applications, including sun-tracking stadium roofs and photovoltaic mashrabiya window systems. She holds a Master’s degree in Architectural Technology and Digital Design, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering, both obtained from leading universities in Iran. During her doctoral studies, she conducted international research visits at the Institute of Solar Energy of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and at ETSEIB of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain. Rana has co-authored a book chapter and several peer-reviewed journal articles published in international venues, including International Journal of Engineering Science, Developments in the Built Environment, Thin-Walled Structures, and Composite Structures. She has contributed to research projects funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the Italian Ministry of University and Research, and collaborates with researchers at institutions in the United States, Poland, and Iran. Fernando Fraternali is Professor of Structural Mechanics in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Salerno (Diciv), Italy. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Salerno, and a Ph.D. in Multiscale Mechanics from King's College London. F. Fraternali has participated as a PI or co-PI in various research projects funded by the Italian National Research Council, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Italy-USA scientific cooperation), and US research agencies. He is PI of the PRIN Research Project of National Relevance “Innovative Lattice Structures and Architectured Materials for civil engineering (ILAM)” (PRIN 2022 project 20224LBXMZ, years 2023-2026) granted by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR). He is also PI of the Research Unit at the University of Salerno within the PRIN-PRRR 2022 Project of National Relevance “STABilization of contaminated SOILs (STABSOIL)” (project code P2022CR8AJ, years 2023 –2026) granted by MUR. In the University of Salerno, Prof. Fernando Fraternali serves as Coordinator of the PhD Course on “Structural Engineering, Architecture and Cultural Heritage”; and as Delegate to Research and Doctorate Affairs of Diciv. Most of his research work concerns multiscale modeling and simulation of solids and structures, the nonlinear dynamics of materials and structures, and the design and engineering of sustainable materials at multiple scales.
